FGI's Mining division delivers oversight across all aspects within the mining cycle, whether it be surface or underground mining, across Australia and Internationally. From pre-strip and tailings dam construction to haul roads, drill pads, mining extraction, production and mine rehabilitation, we provide reliable, production-aligned delivery in demanding environments where timing, safety, and precision are non-negotiable.

Based in Cairns and mobilising nationally, our teams understand the complexity and critical scheduling of resource sector projects. We work directly with mine owners, operators, EPCMs, and principal contractors to deliver enabling works that keep operations moving safely and on program.

Mining Earthworks &

Site Development

We carry out pre-strip and overburden removal, bulk earthworks and site establishment, and mine pit and bench development support at scale. Our teams are experienced in vegetation clearing, grubbing, and large-scale site preparation, as well as drill pad construction and ongoing maintenance — delivering the foundational earthworks that resource projects depend on to get underway efficiently and safely.

Construction

FGI constructs the heavy-duty access and operational infrastructure that active mine sites require. Our work includes haul road design support and construction, maintenance corridors, mine service road networks, laydown areas, hardstands, and site access and logistics infrastructure. We build to withstand the continuous demands of heavy vehicle operation across challenging terrain and remote locations.

Tailings, Water &

Storage Infrastructure

We deliver tailings dam construction and expansion works, water management and containment structures, decant systems and associated earthworks, mine water storage and diversion infrastructure, and erosion control and water mitigation systems. All water infrastructure works are delivered with rigorous attention to structural integrity, environmental compliance, and long-term operational performance.

Material Handling &

Bulk Earthworks

Our bulk earthworks capability supports the ongoing material movement demands of active mining operations. We undertake bulk material reshaping, spoil placement and stockpile construction, load-out and dump area formation, and rehabilitation profiling and reshaping of mined landforms — ensuring efficient site operations and compliant land management outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

Extraction Support

(Drill & Blast, Load & Haul)

We support extraction activities by preparing and maintaining drill patterns and benches, constructing and maintaining drill and blast access, and forming and maintaining ROM pads, pit floors and working areas. Our teams also assist with load-and-haul enabling works such as in-pit ramps, turnaround areas and trafficable surfaces that keep production moving safely and efficiently.

ROM, Crushing &

Processing Plant

We deliver the bulk earthworks and site preparation that underpin production and processing areas, including ROM pad formation, crusher and screen area earthworks, and hardstands, access and drainage around processing infrastructure. Where required, we support conveyor and stockpile corridors, bunding and containment, and heavy-duty pavement works so processing operations can run reliably in all-weather conditions.

Dewatering, Drainage &

Production Water Management

We implement operational drainage and dewatering enabling works to maintain safe, productive pit and plant areas, including diversion drains, sumps, pump pads, access tracks and erosion/sediment controls. These works help manage rainfall events, reduce downtime and support compliance with site water management requirements.

Site Establishment, Utilities &

Logistics Support

We provide civil works that support mine establishment and ongoing operations, including construction of site compounds, laydown areas and hardstands, and formation of pads for workshops, offices and camps. We also deliver access tracks and corridors for services (where within scope), plus ongoing maintenance of key operating areas to keep site logistics efficient.

Closure Works

We support clients through the full rehabilitation lifecycle, from progressive rehabilitation of disturbed areas and landform reconstruction through to topsoil management and respreading, erosion and sediment control, and civil earthworks support for mine closure. Our approach ensures rehabilitation is delivered efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with approved closure planning requirements.
